Simplex recently received their plant certification from SBRA, (Systems Building Research Alliance), to produce Energy Star ready modular homes. The plant certification is a special designation indicating that the plant possesses the skills to build ENERGY STAR homes. Once certified, plants can produce homes that can earn the ENERGY STAR label by monitoring quality and conformance using in-house quality control staff, eliminating the need for third-party inspection of every home in the plant.

The compliance verification protocols, established by SBRA and approved by EPA, are designed specifically to address the way modular homes are built, recognizing the inherent energy advantages of factory construction.

Advantages of receiving SBRA certification;

  • The Builders’ Rater does not have to schedule inspections to visit the factory during construction.
  • With the SBRA quality assurance (QA) label installed at the factory, builders are assured that the homes have been constructed by a certified plant. The homes construction is in compliance with the ENERGY STAR guidelines. (Note, the builder must become an Energy Star Partner and work in conjunction with a certified Home Energy Rater for all on site construction and finishing of the home)
  • This program provides 3rd party assurance that each unit is properly constructed with semi-annual inspections/tests to verify on-going compliance.
