Happy Birthday to The McAllister. It is hard to believe it has been 2 years since I built my Simplex Industries’ modular home in Paxinos, PA. The design and construction of my personal home is a great example of how far modular construction has evolved. With true vaulted ceilings throughout, this build proves that modular homes can be designed and built to exceed any customer’s expectations.
People often ask…”How’s your home”. To that I say…”I ABSOLUTELY love it”. Not only do I say this to make them appreciate the quality of homes Simplex builds, but because it is a fact. I wake up every morning and admire the quality and craftsmanship of my home. Having built my previous home (traditional site-built) and knowing what to expect over time, I am very impressed and I am still waiting for my modular house to “settle”. My previous site-built house quickly showed her age. After the first heat/cool cycle in my traditional site-built home, I had major nail pops in all the ceilings and stress cracks in my drywall sidewalls. With modular construction, the possibility of nail pops is eliminated (unless local codes require the ceiling drywall to be screwed in addition to the glue). The reason nail pops are eliminate in most cases is because we use a special spray on glue to adhere the sheetrock to the roof trusses. The only sign of aging in my modular home is one 6” hairline crack in the drywall in the master bedroom (along with handprints in the hallway from my four young sons running back and forth all day long).
Too often we only hear negative stories about building a new home, both traditional site-build and modular construction. There can be challenges and opportunities in everything we do. One of the biggest rewards in life is building a new home. Do not let these negative stories scare you away from pursuing your dreams. My suggestions is to build a least one new home in your lifetime. Someday you may wake up as enthusiastic as I am about your own creation.
